While I agree that using a third party add on like TrueCrypt does alleviate the security concerns - it does not turn Dropbox into a tech for doing anything other than file sync.  What I find most attorneys need is a way to collaborate/share and not just sync.</description>

		<description>Dropbox is very good for remote, shared and easy-to-use storage, but you correctly point out that it is light on obvious security features beyond the password protection. Then again, few if any third-party cloud services offer *verifiable* security features, and at least with Dropbox, if the service itself should go away, the user likely retains local copies of everything.

My recommendation for those seeking shared, secure storage (with apologies for alliteration) is combining a cloud-based service like Dropbox with encryption under personal control. Standardize on something like Truecrypt, place a Truecrypt-encrypted file container inside a Dropbox volume, and voila: convenience, multi-platform compatibility and security without having to rely on any third-party vendor promise. {ProfJonathan}</description>
